Come on out to our Dog Days of Summer: Free Microchip Clinic on Sunday, July 29 from 11 a.m to 5 p.m., hosted by El Club in Detroit. This service is provided to residents of Hamtramck, Highland Park, and Detroit free of charge to help families stay together. Along with microchipping, residents are welcome to bring their friendly, leashed dogs to this event, which will feature raffles, music, frozen treats, games, prizes, barbeque, dog pools, and of course adoptable dogs!
An identification microchip is a tiny transponder, no larger than a single grain of rice. It is placed between a dog’s shoulder blades via needle with all information needed for quick retrieval of a lost pet. It is as painless to your pet as a standard vaccination, and will keep for 25 years.
Owners must provide proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill in their name. Residents not located in the three cities stated above are welcome, but will be charged $10 for the service. Licenses for Detroit animals only available with proof of a rabies vaccine.
