Ready to volunteer?
If you haven't been to a volunteer orientation yet but would still like to come in and help out, send us an email with this form and we'll get you started.
Have questions? Concerns? You can also use this form to communicate with a board member of Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control. We try our best to respond promptly, but it may take 24 to 72 hours to get back to you.
Remember to keep an eye on our Events tab and our Facebook page for our next volunteer orientation. We recommend all of our volunteers attend one, even if you have already been down to the shelter.
what does a VOLUNTEER do?
The short answer is anything and everything. Got a few hours to spare? Come on down to the shelter! Volunteer hours are from 9 am to 3 pm seven days a week. Just sign up here to let us know when you'll be by. You can walk dogs, play with puppies, wash dishes, do laundry, help with paperwork, clean kennels, take dogs out to the play yard, hang out with the cats, stuff Kongs, pass out treats--or if you come up with something else you'd like to do, just run it by your team lead or Officer McCaskill.
We also need help with special events, including fundraisers and adoptions. Setup, take-down, promotion, graphic design, soliciting donations, selling tickets, and most of all, attending. Shoot us a message if you have an idea for a fundraiser or can help in any way.
