Storytime with Shelter Dog-Osaurs Edison Branch
Books, dogs, and dinosaurs — oh my! Join us this summer for one of the most roar-some storytimes around: Storytime with Shelter Dog-Osaurs, a special series presented in partnership with Detroit Public Library's Edison Branch.
In the spirit of this summer's dinosaur reading theme, we're bringing in a very special guest each week — an adoptable shelter dog dressed as a dino! Volunteer handlers from Detroit Animal Care & Control will bring a lovable, socialized pup ready to soak up all the attention kids can give.
Each week, our librarian will read a story aloud — and kids who are ready can take a turn reading to the dog themselves. Dogs are patient, non-judgmental listeners, which makes them the perfect audience for building reading confidence. Whether your child is just learning to read or looking to practice their skills, storytime with a dog-osaur is the most fun way to do it.
Collect them all! Every time you attend, your child can choose a free collectible bookmark to keep — a new one is available each week.
This program is free and open to all kids with a parent or guardian. No registration required — just show up, find a cozy spot, and get ready to read with a dog-osaur! 🦕🐾
