The 4th of July is one of the busiest — and toughest — times of year for Detroit Animal Care and Control. Fireworks frighten pet dogs across the community, and many bolt from yards or slip their leashes, getting lost in the chaos. As a result, DACC sees a major surge in intake right around the holiday.

To prepare, we need to clear as many kennels as possible before the fireworks start. That's where our Pajama Party comes in: a short-term "slumber party" foster program that gets adoptable shelter dogs into real homes for the weekend, freeing up space for the lost pets who'll need it.
