Fix the Future: Free Spay/Neuter Appointments for Detroit Pets (March 16–21)

Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control is excited to announce a special Fix the Future event made possible through our partnership with Cathy Bissell and the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

From March 16 through March 21, a veterinarian sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation will be in Detroit, allowing us to significantly expand our spay and neuter appointments for local pets.

This event is designed specifically to support Detroit residents and their pets by providing essential veterinary services at no cost.

What’s Included

Pets scheduled through this event will receive:

✔ Spay or neuter surgery
✔ Core vaccinations
✔ Microchip
✔ Heartworm test (dogs)

These services play a critical role in keeping pets healthy, preventing unwanted litters, and reducing the number of animals entering shelters.

Who Can Sign Up

This opportunity is available for Detroit residents only.

We say this with care and respect — resources like this are limited and our organization’s mission is focused on supporting pets within the city of Detroit.

If you live in Detroit and need spay/neuter services for your pet, we would love to help.

How to Request an Appointment

Getting started is simple:

Once your form is submitted, our team will contact you via email to schedule your appointment.

Appointments are limited and filled on a rolling basis, so we encourage residents to sign up as soon as possible.

Why Spay & Neuter Matters

Spay and neuter is one of the most impactful ways to support both your pet and Detroit’s animal community.

It helps:

• Prevent unexpected litters
• Reduce health risks
• Decrease shelter overcrowding
• Strengthen long-term pet stability for families

Every pet fixed is part of building a more compassionate future for Detroit animals.
