New Tools to Help Your Support Go Further
Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control now has three new ways for supporters to increase the impact of their giving and volunteering — all powered by Double the Donation. These tools make it easier than ever to see whether your employer can match your donation, sponsor your volunteer hours, or set up automatic payroll giving.
These programs are often underused, but they’re some of the most efficient ways to strengthen resources for Detroit’s animals and the people who love them, at no additional cost to you.
1. Matching Gifts
Many employers match charitable contributions made by their employees. With our new lookup tool, you can quickly find out:
Whether your company offers donation matches
Match ratios and annual limits
Submission deadlines
How to access the required forms or portals
If you’ve already donated this year, you may still be able to submit a match request — most companies accept requests through December or January.
Matching gifts are one of the simplest ways to immediately increase your impact.
2. Company-Sponsored Volunteering
Your volunteer hours may be worth more than you realize. Many companies now support employees’ community work through:
Paid Volunteer Time Off (PVTO): Paid hours you can use to volunteer
Volunteer Grants: Dollars donated by your employer based on your volunteer time
Our tool helps you see:
If your employer participates
How programs are structured
Minimum hour requirements
Application instructions
It’s a practical way to turn the time you already volunteer into additional support for Detroit’s animals.
3. Payroll Giving
Payroll giving allows you to make automatic, recurring donations straight from your paycheck. Many employers also match payroll deductions, making this a low-effort way to provide consistent support.
Use the lookup tool to check whether your workplace offers payroll giving and to access enrollment instructions.
Why These Programs Matter
Employer-supported giving and volunteering provide steady, reliable support for the work Friends of DACC does every day — from enrichment and medical care to community outreach and pet food support. These tools help make sure every contribution, big or small, has maximum impact. A few extra minutes can double (or even triple) the difference you make for Detroit’s pets and the people who love them.
