Paws & Claus: Sponsor a Family Pet This Holiday Season

This holiday season, a small act of kindness can make a life-changing difference for a pet in need.

Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control invites animal lovers everywhere to help keep pets where they belong: at home with the families who love them. Sometimes a simple bag of food and a toy is all it takes to prevent a beloved pet from entering the shelter system. By sponsoring a Holiday Pet Pack, supporters can help local pets stay safe, fed, and together with their loving families.

The Paws & Claus Sponsorship campaign provides two easy ways to give, with all donated items distributed to Detroit pet parents on December 19. Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control is always accepting donations. However, to be included in this year’s holiday delivery, donations will be accepted until December 19 at noon.

1. Sponsor a Pet Pack (Monetary Donation)

Supporters can make an online contribution, and the Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control team will assemble a holiday-themed food-and-toy gift bag on their behalf. Each donation directly supports Detroit pets and their families.

Sponsorship Levels:

  • $40 – Full Pet Pack Sponsor

  • $100 – Sponsor Food for 3 Pets

  • $120 – Sponsor Full Pet Packs for 3 Pets

  • $313The “313 Pack” — Sponsor 10 Detroit Pets

2. Build a Pet Pack Yourself (Shop + Drop Off)

Prefer a hands-on approach? Community members can purchase items for dogs or cats and deliver or ship the assembled Pet Packs directly to Detroit Animal Care and Control at 1431 E. Ferry, Detroit, MI 48211, which is open 7 days a week 10:30am to 5:30pm. These personalized contributions ensure pet parents receive the support they need during the holiday season.

Many families in our community are struggling to make ends meet, and that often means tough choices about how to feed everyone at home. Pets are beloved members of the family, yet they’re rarely included in traditional holiday family giving programs. With Paws & Claus, we have the chance to fill that gap and make sure no pet is forgotten this holiday season. A simple act of generosity can help keep a pet safe, fed, and home for the holidays.
— Sarah Krizan, Community Outreach Director

By participating in Paws & Claus, donors provide more than food and toys—they offer comfort, stability, and hope. Together, we can make the holidays brighter for Detroit's pets and the families who cherish them.
