Color Me Adopted
A New Way to Help Detroit Dogs Find Homes
At Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control (FoDACC), we believe every dog deserves to be seen—and now, they can be colored too.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
We’re thrilled to launch Color Me Adopted, a creative new way for people of all ages to help Detroit shelter dogs find loving homes. With help from ChatGPT, we’ve transformed photos of more than ten adoptable dogs at Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC) into printable coloring pages—available in both kid-friendly and adult-friendly versions.
It’s simple, adorable, and it makes a difference.
Why Coloring Pages?
Due to an ongoing insurance issue that has forced FoDACC to pause all offsite events—including adoption events, Dogventures, storytimes, and more—we’ve had to get creative about getting the word out about our incredible shelter dogs. These events normally provide critical exposure for dogs in need. Without them, we’re relying on new ways to help the public meet their next best friend.
Color Me Adopted is one of those creative solutions.
By sharing colorable portraits of real dogs waiting at the shelter, we’re hoping to generate buzz, brighten walls and timelines, and encourage more people to come to the shelter and adopt.
How to Participate
Ready to make your mark? Here’s how you can get involved:
Download: Choose a portrait of an adoptable dog (or two!) and print it out.
Color: Add your artistic flair!
Share: Post your masterpiece on social media, display it at your school, church, or workplace, or give it to a friend. Don’t forget to tag us and post your artwork in the comments at Adoptable Animals at DACC on Facebook.
The goal? Spread the word, showcase the personalities of our dogs, and help them get the attention they deserve.
Meet the Dogs
There are currently more than 30 dogs waiting for homes at DACC—many of whom have been there for weeks or even months. Each one is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go home with a collar, leash, harness, and a bag of goodies. And while we may not be able to take them out for community events right now, you can come meet them every day from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM at:
Detroit Animal Care and Control
1431 E. Ferry Street
Detroit, MI 48211
Let’s make these portraits go viral—and let’s turn every colored page into a celebration of a dog finding a loving home.
